About Disease Guide
Last reviewed: 15 August 2026
Disease Guide exists to give people clear, honest, easy-to-understand information about common health conditions — written for people who want to understand what's happening to their body before, or alongside, a conversation with a healthcare professional.
Our mission
Health information online is often either buried in clinical jargon or oversimplified to the point of being unhelpful. We aim to sit in between: accurate enough to trust, plain enough to actually read while you're worried about a symptom at 11pm.
How we write and review content
Every condition page on Disease Guide follows the same process:
- Source-based: content is drawn from established, publicly available clinical guidance, including NHS.uk, NICE guidelines, and peer-reviewed medical literature.
- Structured for clarity: each page covers overview, symptoms, causes and risk factors, and management options, plus clear guidance on when to seek urgent care.
- Reviewed and dated: pages carry a "last reviewed" date so you can see how current the information is, and are revisited periodically as guidance changes.
- Not a diagnosis tool: nothing on this site is intended to diagnose, treat, or replace a consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.
What we don't do
- We don't sell supplements, "miracle cures," or any treatment we write about.
- We don't accept payment for favourable coverage of any product or provider.
- We don't share your personal health searches with advertisers — see our Privacy & Cookie Policy.
How this site is funded
Disease Guide is supported by display advertising (Google AdSense), which lets us keep every page free to read without a paywall or subscription.
